Tokyo Ghoul Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary With This Complete Blu-ray Collection

2024 marks the 10th anniversary of Tokyo Ghoul, one of the most popular manga and anime series of all time, and for the first time ever, the complete saga is being collected in a new Blu-ray release. Available December 31 and priced at $81 (was $120) via the Crunchyroll store, the box set contains the original Tokyo Ghoul series alongside all episodes of Tokyo Ghoul √A and Tokyo Ghoul:re.

If you’ve never seen it, Tokyo Ghoul is set in a world where a secret war is being waged between society and humanoid creatures called ghouls who survive on human flesh. Loner Ken Kaneki finds himself at the center of this conflict after a date turns deadly and a life-saving operation horribly transforms him into a human-ghoul hybrid. Given the option to be either the hunter or the hunted, Kaneki must navigate new social dynamics while striving to retain his humanity.

The entire Tokyo Ghoul storyline is spread across 48 episodes, and for this release that comes to eight Blu-ray discs in total. For extras, you get both the Jack and Pinto OVA episodes, textless credits, commentaries for select episodes, featurettes, trailers, and a Q&A session with the cast and crew. All of this is housed in a rather slick slipcase with newly commissioned artwork from animation studio Pierrot.

While the anime is pretty good, the original manga is perhaps even better, thanks to the elegant, gritty art of creator Sui Ishida.
