Tropical Trouble on Labor Day?

As the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season approaches, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has marked a new area to watch for development in the coming Labor Day weekend or early next week.

The chance of development is low for now, but the chance of tropical development may increase or decrease as computer prediction models keep tasting the realm over the tropical Atlantic Ocean in the coming days.

Flooding in swamps at Minnesota State Fair

Severe weather swept across parts of the Midwest on Monday, leaving tens of thousands of customers without power. Trees snapped like branches and people attending the Minnesota State Fair were forced to seek shelter.

Footage from the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul showed people running for safety as water covered sidewalks and walkways. Large hail and damaging winds were also reported, including a 4-inch hailstorm in Nebraska.

More severe weather is possible in parts of the Midwest on Tuesday.

For Hurricane Hone dropped over a foot of rain about parts of HawaiiRainbow Falls was a beautiful waterfall that many enjoyed during the short hike. Less than 24 hours later, the same waterfall was transformed into a raging wall of water.

Just how much of a difference 24 hours can make was evident in before and after videos and photos taken Sunday by FOX Weather observers and FOX Weather crews on the ground in Hawaii.
