Timberwolves have ‘zero interest’ in trading Donte DiVincenzo, despite rumors

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Wolves have “no interest” in moving the veteran guard despite his rough start to the season.

DiVincenzo was brought in as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks, while Julius Randle and others returned to Minnesota. But with his shooting percentages low and his impact uneven, it didn’t take long for speculation to arise as to whether he might be flipped in another trade.

On paper, that makes sense, considering DiVincenzo’s $11.4 million salary this season — and $24.5 million due over the next two years — fits the model of a contract that can be moved with relative ease.

Still, the Wolves appear unwilling to pull the trigger, likely betting on a turnaround for the sharpshooter. DiVincenzo’s defensive instincts and ability to spread the floor made him an attractive target in the first place, and the Wolves are clearly hoping those traits will come to the fore once he finds his rhythm.

Let’s not forget that this is a man who played a key role on winning teams in Milwaukee and Golden State.

For now, Minnesota’s front office appears determined to give DiVincenzo time to settle in alongside Anthony Edwards, Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert. Chemistry takes time, and the Wolves clearly believe they have the pieces in place to be a force in the West. They are also in no rush to make a move, especially with their recent strong play.

If anything changes, the Wolves could reassess the situation closer to the trade deadline. But for now, fans can expect to see DiVincenzo in a Timberwolves jersey in the near future.
