Three advisers assigned to examine bribery allegations against Mokhlesur Rahman

The interim government’s Advisory Council has instructed an investigation into bribery allegations against Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration connected with the appointment of Deputy Commissioners (DC).

Three Advisers have been assigned to conduct the inquiry, Sharmin S Murshid, Adviser to the Ministry of Social Welfare and Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, told reporters while addressing a press conference over Durga Puja at the Secretariat on Thursday.

The three advisers are Lt General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dr. Asif Nazrul and Md. Nahid Islam.

We need to investigate why these allegations of bribery have surfaced, what their source is, and the reasons behind them. We are no longer in the analog age, which adds to our challenges. We can’t simply accept everything that appears on social media as true;

A Bengali daily published a report with spotlight on bribery involving Md Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry, in connection with the appointment of Deputy Commissioners (DCs). The report also included screenshots of the Senior Secretary’s WhatsApp conversations.

However, Mokhlesur Rahman denied the bribery allegations linked with Deputy Commissioners (DC) appointment as ‘groundless’ and terminated a recent write-up published in a countrywide daily newspaper as ‘fake’.
