This is when Jannik Sinner should know if he will be banned after appealing to WADA

Jannik Sinner faces a few mentally tough months, now that the Italian media are reporting that he will learn his fate in his doping case in early 2025.

As you are probably well aware by now, WADA has appealed to the CAS over the ITIA ruling in the 23-year-old’s case. And with the world number 1 facing more hearings and court visits, he could still be suspended even though the ITIA investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing.

However, Sinner is free to keep playing, at least for now. According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, he will also be able to defend his Australian Open title in January, as their sources claim the verdict will “likely” be reached in February.

Sinner admitted that it hasn’t been easy for him to deal with everything now that he’s in the situation

After it was announced in August that the two-time Grand Slam champion tested positive twice for a banned substance in March, the world number 1 admitted he was very stressed during the investigation process. Although he felt great relief after the ITIA investigation was concluded, he now has to fight again to clear his name.

What makes it difficult is the fact that Sinner did not expect WADA to appeal his doping ruling.

“Well, we can’t control everything, right? Naturally, I am very disappointed and also surprised by this call, to be honest, because we have had three hearings. All three hearings turned out very positively for me. You know, I didn’t expect I knew it a few days ago, that they were going to appeal, that it was going to be official today, so… But yeah, it’s a surprise. We always talk about the same thing I’m sure everything is in the right place. Yes, I’m just surprised that they appealed,” the Italian said in Beijing this weekend.
