This action thriller film just crashed into the Netflix top 10 – and the critics were wrong

At first glance, ‘Unhinged’ may seem like a fairly forgettable thriller, and while I can’t deny that it’s hardly a milestone in the genre, it’s tied to a pretty special memory for me. It was the first major theatrical release following the forced closure of cinemas around the world due to the global pandemic, and it felt very liberating to see it on the big screen that summer.

Now, over four years later, the Russell Crowe film had largely faded from my mind, but it’s currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity on Netflix US and has just cracked the streaming service’s top 10 list. It has now shot straight to No. 3, behind only “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” and the new romantic drama “Lonely Planet,” and it could go all the way to No. 1.
