Footage has gone viral showing Thierry Henry dancing in France’s dressing room at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais after Monday’s semi-final win over Egypt.

Henry has been France U21 coach since August 2023, but he also had the honour of leading his country’s men’s team at this summer’s Olympic Games.

France started the tournament strongly by winning their first four games, beating the United States, Guinea, New Zealand and Argentina among others.

But Monday’s match against Egypt was a tough test and France needed an 82nd-minute equaliser from Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta to force extra time.

Les Bleus eventually won 3-1 after extra time, thanks to another strike from Mateta and a goal from former Palace team-mate Michael Olise.

After the dramatic victory, the French players celebrated on the field in front of their home fans, before continuing the party indoors.

A video taken by Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki captured the moment Henry returned to a noisy dressing room and was ordered to dance.

The 46-year-old former Arsenal and Barcelona striker was known for his fluid footwork during his playing career, but his dance moves were not as refined.

Still, Henry’s dance was a hit with his players. You could hear them screaming during the video. Cherki captioned it: “Paris is coming.”

On Friday, France will face Spain at the Parc des Princes in Paris for the gold medal, while on Thursday, Egypt will face Morocco for bronze.

Men’s football is part of the Under-23 Olympic Games, with each country only allowed to nominate three players over that age.

France’s senior players are 24-year-old Sevilla defender Loic Bade, 33-year-old Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Mateta, 27.
