The winter setup of The Potato Shed

WINTER is really here, and what better way to stay warm and entertained than to head to the Potato Shed for the best shows on the Bellarine?

Women of Wit returns on July 13 with the funniest, laugh-out-loud comedians touring national stages. Alex Ward (Have You Been Paying Attention?); Prue Blake (Melbourne International Comedy Festival); and Patti Fawcett (2021 RAW Comedy winner); join He Huang (Australia’s Got Talent) and a special local guest for an evening guaranteed to get you laughing.

On July 20, the party starts when Yummy’s Joy Machine pops into the Black Box theater for an evening of outrageous, bizarre and always unpredictable cabaret. Arrive early to enjoy a special one-off Yummy Joy Machine cocktail, before groundbreaking new MC Milo Hartill and company get the party started, signaling the start of the show.

There are two great school holiday shows for young and old. CircArts’ The Time Travel Circus: Adventures Across the Ages on Wednesday, July 3 will leave you captivated by their imaginative circus adventure. House theater company Theater 3triple2 returns with their version of the Brothers Grimm classic, Rapunzel. July 9 to July 12, two shows per day.

Clap! Pop! Kiss! returns to the Potato Barn on August 1 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. On the VCE Drama Reading List for 2024 and shortlisted for the 2021 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards.

Melbourne-based singer Leslie Martin will pay tribute to The Queens of Country Music Show on August 3 at 8pm, performing the greatest hits from Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton, two enduring superstars of country music.

Then, at a different pace, HiT Productions presents Some Enchanted Evening – the songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein, 8 p.m. on August 10. Sing along to some of the biggest musical theater numbers from Carousel, The King and I, South Pacific and more.

Geelong historian Colin Mockett presents Made in Monserrat, The Potato Shed’s July Morning Showtime show on July 16. Made in Monserrat tells the story of the “fifth Beatle” George Martin and his Monserrat AIR Studio.

Then on August 6, Allan James pays tribute to all things skiff with Does Your Chewing Gum Lose its Flavor? Songs from The Beatles Gave Away highlight the incredible talent and generosity of one of pop music’s greats – September 10, hosted by Adam Parsons. Featuring songs originally sung by Cilla Black; Gerry & the Pacemakers and Billy J. Kramer.
