The Trussville City Council honors the back-to-back state champion HTHS softball team

TRUSSVILLE, Ala.–The Hewitt-Trussville High School softball team was honored Tuesday night at the Trussville City Council meeting with a proclamation for winning back-to-back 7A State Championships.

Councilwoman Lisa Bright read the proclamation recognizing the team for its achievements.

Council members also wore Huskies gear in support of the team.

The Huskies went 37-6 this season, outscoring their opponents by 244 runs along the way.

They ended their season on top with AhKeela Honeycutt’s walk-off hit in overtime and defeated Daphne 1-0 in the 7A State Championship game.

The proclamation also recognized that Sara Phillip was named the Alabama Sports Writers Association 7A Pitcher of the Year, that Corey Goguts, Olivia Faggard and Zaylen Tucker were on the All-State team and that Coach Taylor Burt was named 7A Coach of theYear.

Students and coaches with team were present and accepted the proclamation after it was read.
