BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -The Salvation Army of Bowling Green offers a respite from the extreme heat.

The Salvation Army Center for Hope says it will open its dining room if the outside temperature or heat index reaches 95 degrees or more for an extended period of time.

The room will offer a place to cool off and get water from a brand new water bottle filling station.

To support cooling efforts, The Salvation Army is accepting donations of bottled water, popsicles, small portable fans, Gatorade powder packets, sunscreen and cooling towels.

You can find the Salvation Army at 400 W. Main St. in Bowling Green.
