The queen was the absolute boss

Natasha Hunt has been at the top of her sport for over a decade. She was part of England’s 2014 Rugby World Cup winning team and has competed in two Olympic Games with Team GB Sevens.

At club level, the scrum half has also played a central role in Gloucester-Hartpury’s success. He will co-captain the team in Saturday’s Premiership Women’s Rugby final against Bristol Bears as the club look for back-to-back titles.

Here she talks about food, family and favorite holidays.

Who is the person you would like to meet, dead or alive?

The Queen (Elizabeth II). I just think she was the absolute boss, I would have liked to pick her brain.

Describe yourself in three words.

Empathetic, I would say, attentive and cheerful.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Definitely teleportation. The number of trips we take, the number of times I wanted to be somewhere else, just to go abroad for a day for some sun.

What is the nicest compliment you have ever received?

These are hard…probably my smile is contagious, something like that.

What’s your worst habit?

I’m an overthinker. I feel like there are problems when there aren’t any.

If you could switch lives with anyone for one day, who would it be?

I can’t say that, it’s too political. Okay, I’m going to say it. I’d love to switch lives with Donald Trump just to see what the hell he thinks. Just to understand that thought process.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

My grandmother and grandfather had a stationary caravan in Wales, on the coast in Pembrokeshire, all their lives. When we would go there as kids and do Easter egg hunts and stuff like that, it was always great. I loved it.

What’s your favorite WhatsApp group chat?

“The Circus”, our Gloucester-Hartpury group chat. It’s a lot of fun, especially when the girls are on it.

What is your most valuable possession?

It’s not really an asset, but I would say my niece and nephew. They are the people I want to protect most.

Which song gets you on the dance floor?

Pretty much everything. I like to dance, me. Everything with a good beat, a bit of rhythm.

Who are your dream three-course meal and dinner guests?

Dinner guests, I would obviously love the Queen, Nelson Mandela would be there, and I would love to meet Adele, I think she’s brilliant. Big craic. The meal, probably a very good fillet steak and some well cooked fries or crispy potatoes. Chocolate mousse for pudding – it’s light, but you still get that chocolate hit. As a starter I like a camembert to share, with small pieces of bacon on top.

If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be?

I’m a celebrity, but I’d be terrible at it. I hate eating anything that isn’t actually chicken, so I wouldn’t be up to the eating challenges. I don’t like insects. I feel like everyone is laughing at me, but I would just like to experience it.

Would you rather have a night in or a night out?

A night out. Depends on my mood though; During the season I like to lie on the couch.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

Just to be unapologetically yourself. When you own what you’re good at in everything you do, I think people resonate with you so much more than when you try to be someone you’re not.
