The Hidden Oaks Golf Course is reportedly for sale again

|Through

••• I have it on good authority that the former Hidden Oaks Golf Course, above More Mesa, is quietly for sale for $15.7 million. In May 2022, Kingdom Hospitality Group paid $7 million for the 12-acre estate, publicly admitting that it would remain a golf course while – according to my source – privately pursuing the idea of developing it as a glamping resort, and even so would go far. to secure a $12 million loan for the property. Now the company behind the loan is said to have reclaimed the property and started cleaning up some of the deferred maintenance in preparation for a sale. A mortuary was apparently interested in purchasing the property, but the seller was wary of a) a lengthy process to obtain a conditional use permit and b) the potential opposition from neighbors. ••• A step forward for State Street: Alo Yoga opens at 821 State Street (De La Guerra/Canon Perdido).

The Hidden Oaks Golf Course is reportedly for sale again••• And two steps back: discount chain Dollar Tree has leased the former 99 Cents Only store (Gutierrez/Haley).

••• From Caltrans: “Caltrans has completely closed Highway 154 in both directions, from State Route 192 in Santa Barbara to Hwy. 154/246 Roundabout in Santa Ynez due to cracks in the road covering all lanes. These cracks are more than 30 cm deep, with a difference of several centimeters observed at the surface. Residents can access the closed portion of Hwy. 154, but cannot travel through the damaged portion of the roadway. The main detour during this closure will be US 101 and State Route 246. (…) It is unknown how long this portion of the highway will remain closed.” Following Caltrans on X is the easiest way to stay up to date with its announcements.

••• An 800-square-foot addition to the San Ysidro Ranch pool house is on the June 27 agenda of the Montecito Board of Architectural Review. No word yet on what Ty Warner has planned for the space. Maybe a kids club?

••• And the “new one-, three- and four-story mixed-use development with 39 residential units, a renovation/redevelopment of the existing commercial buildings, a 1,300 square meter warehouse space and parking for thirty-two vehicles. spaces and forty-three bicycle parking spaces” at 1922 De La Vina Street (Pedregosa/Mission) is on the June 24 agenda of the Architectural Board of Review. We’ve known this for a while – the plan is to put apartments behind the commercial buildings – but now we have a much better view.

According to Highway 101’s most recent construction update, the southbound exit at San Ysidro Road will reopen on July 2. But the southbound ramp will close on July 1 and not reopen until spring 2026.

••• The James Perse store in the former Angel space (1221 Coast Village Road) apparently opened about a month ago.

••• Opening July 1 at Galerie Los Olivos: “Pillars 2024 is the culmination of a series of works that local oil painter Bobby Williams has been researching for five years. (…) Williams invites you to reflect on the rich and complicated history of migrant farm workers on the Central Coast: ‘It is a story of both repression and progress… of dreams, and of the dignity of hard work and human resilience. ‘” Below: the very beautiful “High Noon.”

••• “The City of Santa Barbara is pleased to announce the upcoming construction of the Santa Barbara Junior High School Multiuse Path Project. Construction will begin in late June 2024 and is expected to be completed by late July 2024. The project will widen the existing sidewalk at the school’s main entrance and create a 40-foot-wide multi-use path for cyclists and pedestrians. The Parkway, with its mature street trees, will be preserved. The new path will create a bypass for cyclists to avoid school drop-offs and pick-ups, closing the 130-metre cycling infrastructure gap along Cota Street between Alisos and Chapala Street.

••• It’s best to give this driver some space….
