‘The entire event is India-centric’: Michael Vaughan accuses ICC of favoring Men in Blue

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has accused the International Cricket Council (ICC) of favoring India in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. According to him, the first semi-final should have been between the Men in Blue and the Jos Buttler-led team. but the apex body prepared the schedule to suit the subcontinent team.

The first knockout match was played between South Africa and Afghanistan and it was a day-night affair. On the other hand, India did not play a single day-night match in the global tournament.

Vaughan went to X to criticize the ICC. “This Semi should definitely have been Guyana’s… but because the whole event is India-centric it is so unfair to others,” he wrote.

India is undefeated in the World Cup. They defeated Ireland, Pakistan and the USA in the group stage. Team India’s match against Canada was canceled due to rain.

Rohit Sharma’s unit defeated Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Australia in the second round to qualify for the semi-finals.

England’s first match against Scotland was abandoned due to rain. They lost to Australia but managed to get past Namibia and Oman to book their place in the Super 8 stage.

The defending champions were given a harsh reality check by South Africa before Jos Buttler’s unit bounced back against the West Indies and USA to reach the last four.
