The Corrupt Relics and Tarot Cards of the Cult of the Lamb Explained

Cult of the Lamb‘s Unholy Alliance update, coming in August 2024, introduced an impressive amount of new content to the wild cult-building action game. While the most prominent feature was the addition of co-op, a slew of new items and mechanical changes were also added. And perhaps the most disruptive change to your dungeon runs is the brand new Corrupted Relics and Corrupted Tarot Cards.

Nearly all of these corrupted items have both a positive and negative effect. They can easily turn the battle upside down and make for a fun time if you’re into chaos. How to unlock them, however, isn’t immediately obvious and will require some playtime. Here’s how to add these tarot cards and relics to your item pool and what each one does.

To access it a trick is needed

Unfortunately, you will not have access to these damaged items for quite some time if you are just starting out with your computer. Cult of the Lamb adventure. The first step is to make your way through the story and defeat the final boss. The choice you make at the end doesn’t matter. As long as you win and make it to the endgame, everything is fine.

What happens next is something you probably haven’t considered while you’ve spent hours fighting and growing your cult. The second step is to die intentionally during a crusade. The only thing that matters here is that you do this after you defeat the final boss. If you do it right, you will be transported to a white room with a giant, ominous statue of a goat.

Interacting with the statue will unlock the eight Corrupted Relics and ten Corrupted Tarot Cards. At the time of writing, those playing on console will also receive a fleece that changes their appearance to that of the goat, allowing them to play without using co-op mode. PC players have it unlocked by default, and it is expected that a console update will include this change in the future.

I’ve listed all eight Corrupted Relics that are unlocked after interacting with the goat statue. Most of them have pretty severe effects, so I recommend double-checking your inventory if you’re unsure what your equipped relic does.

• Pouch of the Kephomite – Gain half a Blue Heart, lose 50 coins.
• Scales of the Hermit – Heal to full health, one random follower dies.
• Little Yaca’s Doll – All enemies take heavy damage when you take damage.
• Ewer of the Widow – Receive half a sick heart and spread poison around the player.
• Laplace’s Coin – 50 percent chance to spawn an undead minion, 50 percent chance to spawn an enemy.
• Bones of the Fowler – Gain random resources, Fervor depletes.
• Knuckle of the Tachach – Weapon damage is significantly increased for five seconds, movement speed is significantly reduced for five seconds.
• Fang of the Starved – Deal 2x damage over five seconds, take 2x damage over five seconds.

Below is the list of Corrupted Tarot Cards that you unlock after interacting with the goat statue. The last one doesn’t have a downside like the others, but it is considered part of the Corrupted Tarot for a good reason.

• Reckoning – Get a Spirit Heart, enemy bombs will appear at your feet if you hit them.
• Deadly Oath – Heavy attacks no longer require Fierce, movement speed is reduced by 25 percent.
• Blighted Core – When hit, all enemies take heavy damage, you take 2x damage.
• The Despised – Gain two Sick Hearts, all Relics become vulnerable.
• The Hoarder – Heal when a Relic is equipped, take damage when a Relic is used.
• Renegade Victorious – Weapon and curse damage increased by 3x, positive effects from corrupted tarot cards and relics are removed.
• Poison Taster – 2x the number of coins dropped, take 2x damage from poison.
• Tainted Oil – Relics deal 2 damage, relics start uncharged.
• Ichor Empty – Spawn black Ichor while walking, attack chance reduced by 25 percent.
• Order of Purity – Removes the negative effects of corrupted Relics and Tarot cards.

This includes every Corrupt Relic and Corrupt Tarot card added in the Cult of the Lamb Unholy Alliance Update. Of course, these aren’t the only types of these items that have been added. There are many “normal” relics and tarot cards introduced, along with a few unique ones that are for co-op play only. The update is quite large, but both new and returning players will do just fine as long as they remember to take a few important tips on their journey to building a cult.
