The Blue Jays could shockingly sign the biggest free agent on the market, an insider says

No one ever talks about the Toronto Blue Jays as a big-market franchise, but that doesn’t mean they can’t attract great talent.

This season’s free agent class will feature one of the most expensive contracts ever signed in Major League Baseball, and Toronto could be the team that holds the pen.

Current New York Yankee superstar Juan Soto could wear a Blue Jays uniform next season.

While Toronto isn’t the frontrunner for Soto at all, the Blue Jays are one of eight teams that could realistically land him, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Heyman was quoted by Bleacher Report’s Erik Beaston this week in a piece revealing Soto’s eight potential landing spots.

“When MLB free agency opens the day after the World Series, no player will be more coveted than left fielder Juan Soto,” Beaston said.

“The incumbent team, the ALCS-bound New York Yankees, are the current and ‘clear’ favorites, followed closely by the cross-town New York Mets.”

“Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia round out the rest of the list.”

A Blue Jays lineup featuring both Soto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. could look something like what the Yankees currently have with Soto and Aaron Judge.
