Terminator: Survivors Early Access Release Delayed to 2025

Developer Nacon has announced that its open-world co-op game Terminator: Survivors has been delayed from its original Early Access release date in October.

The studio announced the schedule change on its official X/Twitter account, revealing that the Early Access build of the Skynet survival game will no longer launch on October 24. It has now been delayed until an undisclosed date in 2025, with Nacon citing that it wants to meet fan expectations. It acknowledges that the news will be disappointing for those who were planning to play the next Terminator game this Halloween, but is confident in its decision, saying: “In the long run, we believe this is the right decision.”

“Over the past few months, we’ve been blown away by your excitement and amazed by the response to our announcements, and we know how eagerly fans are for Terminator: Survivors,” the studio said. “To realize our vision and ensure we deliver the game that meets your expectations, we need some additional time. As a result, we’re moving the launch to 2025.”

Terminator: Survivors was announced in 2022 as a cutthroat multiplayer game set shortly after the events of the universe’s apocalyptic Judgment Day, but before John Connor forms his Skynet resistance group. Further details emerged this past February, revealing a project that would see players scavenge across a threadbare open world with up to three friends while battling hostile humans and relentless Terminators alike.

“This is set in an untapped timeline of the Terminator universe,” creative director Marco Ponte said earlier this year, “with a completely original story featuring both familiar and new characters, and where you learn about the beginnings of John Connor’s resistance.”

We’ve seen very little of Terminator: Survivors yet, and today’s delay means the wait for more just got longer. In the meantime, you can learn more about the upcoming anime adaptation, Terminator Zero. It’s set for release on August 29, 2024, but was recently involved in a massive animation leak on Netflix.
