Teenager dies after crash on West Dodge Road

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha police are investigating a crash on West Dodge that left a teenager dead Saturday evening.

According to an OPD statement, officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle near 156th Street and West Dodge Road on Saturday shortly before 7 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 14-year-old boy near the 156th Street exit and immediately began lifesaving measures.

The boy was taken to CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital, where he died.

An OPD Traffic Unit investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing the Dodge Expressway from south to north. It is unclear why they crossed the road, according to the statement.

A westbound Chevrolet Silverado struck the pedestrian, prompting the driver to stop at the scene and cooperate with the investigation.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
