Teenage girl with disabilities repeatedly raped by cousin | Mumbai News

Mumbai: A harrowing incident of repeated sexual abuse has come to light in Wadala, where a 16-year-old girl with speech and hearing impairment was raped multiple times by her 23-year-old cousin over a period of four months.

The suspect, a native of Jharkhand, had recently moved to Mumbai in search of work and was staying with his maternal aunt in Wadala. It was during this period that he allegedly began exploiting the vulnerable teenager.

Police sources revealed that the suspect, taking advantage of the victim’s disability, spoiled her with promises of marriage. He then sexually assaulted her repeatedly, despite her resistance.

The ordeal continued until the suspect returned to his hometown in early November. It was then that the victim, who found the courage to speak out, told the gruesome details to her mother.

The mother then filed a report at the Wadala TT police station. Police have arrested the 23-year-old under Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

“The medical examination of the victim has been conducted and an FIR has been registered. Our team is currently in Jharkhand to arrest the suspect,” said a police inspector from Wadala TT police station.
