Tee Higgins trade rumors: Latest updates, news on Bengals star at deadline

The Cincinnati Bengals seemingly believe they have a chance to make a second-half run despite a 3-5 record.

Considering how well the offense has played when both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are on the field, it would behoove the Bengals to keep the band together as long as possible.

That could simply be for just half a season, as Higgins’ contract expires after this season. That’s why the star has been the subject of possible trade rumors.

The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday at 4:00 PM ET.

Tee Higgins deals in rumors

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Bengals have no plans to trade Higgins away at the deadline, even if they want to add some defensive help.

Despite the 3-5 score, Cincinnati has been sniffing around looking for a cornerback and a defensive lineman to get defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo some help. Edge rusher Trey Hendrickson is seen as the only threat in this Cincy defense. Also: I was told that they are not trading through Tee Higgins,” Russini wrote.

While Higgins is the biggest trade chip the Bengals have, and they would likely get a nice pick for him, there’s no reason to part ways if they truly believe they can make a run.

The offense has played well when he has been on the field, but he has also missed four games so far due to injuries. He missed the first two games of the season due to a hamstring injury and is currently set to miss his second straight game due to a quad injury.

Through five games this season, Higgins has recorded 29 receptions for 341 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

There could be a lot of movement at the trade deadline, but it appears Higgins isn’t going anywhere.
