Open IDs give Prep Baseball Scouts the chance to see players from their region while also working to fill out rosters for upcoming regional and national events such as the Future Games, Super Sophomore Games, and Top Prospect Games. The Team Carolina Trials fall under this Open ID forum. This event in Campbell was one of the last opportunities for players to perform in front of Prep Baseball Scouts. Several players have earned their ticket to Lake Point.

The event began with position players undergoing their athletic testing, including height and weight measurements, a vertical jump, RSI jumps, grip strength testing, and a laser-timed 60. Offensive evaluations were next, including multiple rounds of BP. BP was followed by defensive evaluations and then pitcher bullpens.

Below we begin by breaking down the player performance from the workout. To see the full list of all the workout stats, you can CLICK HERE.

OUTPUT SPEED

TrackMan can track every ball hit into fair territory during BP sessions. Below are the best exit velocities produced by individual players, by category.

Maximum output speed

Best average exit speed

DISTANCE FROM THE BATS

TrackMan can measure and track the ball while it is in the air. For every fair ball that is put into play, the distance the ball has traveled is displayed.

Peak Distance – Best of the Hitter’s Session

Average Distance – Average of each ball tracked during the session

PERCENTAGE OF THE SWEET SPOT

TrackMan can track and follow how hard the ball is hit and the angle of the bat. With this information, TrackMan has derived the Sweet Spot when batted balls are hit with a launch angle of 8 – 32 degrees.

PERCENTAGE OF STARTING ANGLE

Based on the trajectory of the ball, TrackMan can identify each hit as a ground ball, line drive, or fly ball. While there are many factors that can cause a batter to approach each pitch in a certain way, BP’s general groupings can provide insight into each batter’s approach.
