Teacher’s assistant charged after alleged attack on special needs student

White Oak, PA – A teacher’s aide has been charged after an incident at Francis McClure Elementary School in White Oak, according to Allegheny County police. The General Investigations Unit investigated a report alleging that the assistant assaulted a 5-year-old male student with special needs.

The investigation revealed that the incident took place on the playground on November 7 around 11:45 am. Video footage shows the deputy, identified as 53-year-old Amy Kevicki, grab the child by the neck and push him to the ground. Kevicki then ignored the child and walked toward the building. There were no injuries.

After working with the district attorney’s office, detectives charged Kevicki with simple assault, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, and summary harassment.
