Taylor Swift Fans Cheer Travis Kelce On During Chiefs Camp (Exclusive)

Travis Kelce already has a new support system behind him for the 2024-2025 NFL season!

At the Kansas City Chiefs training camp on Sunday, July 28, the 34-year-old tight end was not only feted by fans of his team, but also by fans of his girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift. While Kelce and other players participated in an autograph session at the camp’s St. Joseph, Mo., location, Swifties showed up in droves to show their love for the athlete.

Among the Swift fans who came to cheer on Kelce, one group even flew in from Dallas to support the reigning Super Bowl champion.

Terah Lee, a fan who makes Taylor Swift T-shirts for work, came prepared in a “Go Taylor’s boyfriend!” shirt and sunglasses made by a friend with the “So High School” friendship bracelet charms – which read Department of Tormented Poets which fans suspect is about the NFL star.

“I’m obviously obsessed with soccer, and I’m obsessed with Taylor Swift,” Lee told PEOPLE. “I think it’s really cool (that fans are showing up). It’s two fandoms that I don’t think anyone ever expected to come together.”

Another Swiftie, Rebecca Jones, showed up to camp wearing a Chiefs jersey with “Traylor” on the back — a combination of the names Travis and Taylor, of course. Jones told PEOPLE that the pair’s relationship is “a positive thing for everyone to look at” and said she hopes “their love continues to blossom.”

“I think it shows how dedicated Swiftie fans are,” added fan Giovanna, who customized her friend’s shades. “I feel like the Swifties would do anything to show their support, even if it’s super hot out here.”

Hannah Calhoun, 16, told PEOPLE that she drove all the way to training camp from Lexington, Kentucky, with her parents just to see Kelce. She even came prepared with her arms full of friendship bracelets and a sign that read, “Travis, I have an open spot, so write your name.”

“I love Taylor and I think she’s a great role model. I think it’s great that my daughter has her to look up to. So we thought, ‘Let’s do this, let’s go out and see Travis Kelce,'” Hannah’s mother Alison said.

In addition to the many Swifties in attendance, other loyal Chiefs fans also recognized the buzz Swift has brought to the league and the franchise itself. Chiefs supporter Kelli Anderson, who told PEOPLE she’s “lived here my whole life,” said she was a fan of Kelce’s before he started dating Swift, 34.

“I just think it’s really cool that he’s bringing so much attention to Kansas City and I just love those two together and watching their love story unfold,” Anderson said. “It’s cool that the rest of the world is starting to appreciate the Chiefs.”

From July 21 through August 15, Kelce and the Chiefs will train at Missouri Western State University in preparation for the upcoming NFL season after winning Super Bowl LVIII in February.

The Chiefs will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in a pre-season exhibition game on August 10. The regular season officially begins on September 5, when they play the Baltimore Ravens.

Before training camp, Kelce enjoyed his off-season time with Swift, watching the singer perform her worldwide Eras Tour in various European locations, including Paris, Amsterdam and London, where he took the stage during one of her outfit changes.

During her Department of Tormented Poets In the film, set in London, he was standing in for a backup dancer and fulfilling his boyfriend responsibilities, carrying her in a tuxedo and top hat to a red couch onstage.

In addition to supporting each other’s careers, the two also vacation together in their free time. In March, they went to the Bahamas and in May, they took a romantic trip to Italy.
