T1’s World Cup Qualifier Outshines the Year’s Biggest LoL Events

After scaring the living daylights out of their fans, T1 has finally qualified for the 2024 competition League of Legends World Championship. The team had to fight through the regional qualifications of Korea, but now the title holders have earned their place among the best, to the great relief of millions of supporters.

In fact, during their final qualifying series against KT Rolster, T1 achieved a peak viewership of over 1.8 million people, according to ratings site Esports Charts. In one short weekend, T1 turned the LCK Regional Qualifiers into one of the most-watched events of the year so far, outpacing major competitions around the world in terms of viewership.

For comparison, the 2024 LCS Summer Finals had a peak viewership of 260,000, the 2024 LEC Season Finals sat at 606,000, and the 2024 LCK Summer Finals between Hanwha Life Esports and Gen.G had a peak audience of around 1.6 million. As a result, these regional qualifiers are among the most watched Competition events of the year—a perfect example of the T1 effect. Whether you’re up early in North America or eating lunch in Europe, T1 fanatics are ready to see their team qualify for Worlds once again, regardless of the time difference.

There was a small chance that T1 would win the biggest stage in Lol Esports after they lost the Regional Qualifiers after their series loss to HLE. After losing to Dplus KIA, people started to wonder if the star cast had a bad run at the worst possible time. Luckily for them, T1 was able to turn the tide and win after a well-fought five-game series.

With this victory, T1 became the 20th and final team to qualify for Worlds 2024. It feels like the universe’s scriptwriters are cooking up another legendary tournament, with the most recent Mid-Season Invitational winners qualifying first for the event, and the reigning world champions qualifying last.
