SWPL Cup: Celtic, Partick Thistle, Aberdeen and Boroughmuir Thistle reach quarter-finals

Celtic progressed to the quarter-finals of the SWPL Cup with a 7-0 win over fellow top side Montrose.

Goals from Mathilde Carstens, Celya Barclais and Morgan Cross, plus doubles from Saoirse Noonan and Kit Loferski, saw Elena Sadiku’s Champions League participants safely through to the last eight.

Last season’s defeated finalists Partick Thistle also made progress with a 3-2 win over Spartans, with first-half goals from Carla Boyce, Cara Henderson and Lucy Sinclair proving enough.

Hannah Stewart scored both goals as Aberdeen beat Gartcairn 2-0, and Boroughmuir Thistle put eight past Livingston without reply, with Emily Reid scoring a hat-trick.

In the other last 16 matches, Hearts host Glasgow City, Queen’s Park take on Hibernian, Rangers are away to Dundee United and Motherwell take on Hamilton.
