Suspect arrested, charged; unknown second suspect

HOUSTON – Houston police held a news conference to share new updates on the string of rapes in northwest Houston, including one arrest.

Police report Denzeill Sneed, 29, has been arrested and charged with two of the assaults, including the most recent assault. The first charge is for burglary with intent to commit another crime, assault, for the August 14 incident, and a second charge of aggravated assault will be filed for the November 8 assault.

Sneed was taken into custody in the Acres Home area.

Houston police say there is a possible second suspect involved in the other three attacks.

A serial rapist has been targeting women in the West Gulf Bank since August. The attacker is wanted by Houston police for raping five women at four different apartment complexes at West Gulf Bank and West Little York.

In both cases, the suspect forced entry into the victim’s home or gained entry through an unlocked door. In some cases the suspect was armed with a firearm.

The most recent attack happened on Friday, November 8, at the young woman’s complex at 3434 West Little York, according to Houston police. Sneed was identified as the suspect on surveillance video related to this incident.

The Houston Police Department has identified the following incidents:

• August 14 at 5454 West Gulf Bank Road: About 6:30 a.m. a woman was attacked in her apartment. This suspect was identified as Sneed. Police say he entered and was in the apartment before she arrived home.

• November 8 at 3434 West Little York Road: A female victim was assaulted by a suspect, identified as Sneed, who gained entry to the apartment through an unlocked door around 7:30 a.m.

• October 9 at 5300 West Gulf Bank Road: Around 7 p.m., a female victim was attacked by a suspect armed with a handgun who forced his way into her home.

• October 17 at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road: A female victim was attacked around 2 p.m. by a suspect who forced himself inside after knocking on her apartment door, wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun.

• October 24 at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road: A woman was attacked around 7:50 a.m. by a suspect who knocked on her door and forced her way in wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun
