Susan Sarandon says she has been blacklisted in Hollywood for her pro-Palestinian stance

Susan Sarandon feels left out in Hollywood after speaking at a pro-Palestine rally last November.

At the event, the 78-year-old Oscar winner said Jews in the United States are getting “a taste of what it feels like to be Muslim in America” in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel.

Sarandon, who was dropped from a leading Hollywood talent agency, later apologized for the comment, which she called a “terrible mistake.”

In a new interview with the Times, Sarandon revealed how her career has been affected by the controversy.

“I was dropped by my agency, my projects were pulled,” she said. “I have been used as an example of what not to do if you want to keep working.”

The “Thelma & Louise” star continued, “There are so many people out of work right now (since) last November…who have lost their jobs as custodians, as writers, as painters, as people working in the cafeteria. substitute teachers fired for tweeting something, liking a tweet, or asking for a ceasefire.”

When asked if she thinks she will be offered big-budget films again, she said: “I don’t know. (Not) anything in Hollywood.”

Sarandon stars in a new low-budget film, “The Gutter,” directed and written by comedian Yassir Lester. “It was outrageous,” she said of the script for the film, which was released on November 1.

Her upcoming films include Tyler Perry’s war drama “The Six Triple Eight” and the comedy “Nonnas” starring Vince Vaughn, Lorraine Bracco, Linda Cardellini and Drea de Matteo.

Sarandon spoke to protesters at the November 17, 2023 rally in New York City and faced backlash for what she said about the Jewish people.

“I deeply regret trivializing this reality and hurting people with this comment,” Sarandon said in her apology statement on Instagram. “My intention was to show solidarity in the fight against all kinds of intolerance, and I regret that I did not do that.”

“I will continue my commitment to peace, truth, justice and compassion for all people. I hope we can meet love and willingness to enter into dialogue, especially with those with whom we disagree,” she also said.

Sarandon has since spoken out against Israel at more Palestinian rallies in New York earlier this year.

The ‘Dead Man Walking’ actress was dropped by United Talent Agency (UTA) last year after her rant.

Sources told Page Six at the time that several UTA employees were “extremely hurt” by the actress’ statement.
