Surfer, 61, seriously injured in shark attack at Waiehu Beach Park in Maui

WAIEHU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The surfer who lost part of his leg to a shark bite a week ago is now home from the hospital.

The 61-year-old Wailuku man, identified as “Kenji,” was bitten while surfing at Waiehu Beach Park.

His family said on his GoFundMe page that he was released from the hospital on Thursday.

He also thanked his supporters who donated more than $93,000 towards his recovery.
