Stunning new Nivalis screenshots show off its deep, captivating cyberpunk world – Destructoid

Ion Lands, the developer behind the cyberpunk delivery game Cloudpunkhas released a batch of new screenshots for its upcoming slice-of-life simulator Nivalis. They are shared to give fans a behind-the-scenes look and involve them in the development process by showing how the world comes together.

When Ion Lands asked its community what it wanted to see in the future, it said it was very clear that it wanted more of Nivalis while it is in development. The developer said: “We really want you to feel like you are on this journey with us, and we strongly believe that this will help you by giving you a glimpse into what is happening behind the scenes.” In addition to the main image for this article, we now have six new gorgeous screenshots of what is my favorite cyberpunk city in video games, Nivalis.

Life surrounded by walls and neon

You can get all seven new Nivalis Screenshots shared by Ion Lands in his Twitter post. I want to highlight a few that I find particularly beautiful and interesting, starting with this photo of a man sitting under a sign. He has set up a shop with a magazine rack to his left and a stove to his right. It’s clear that he’s just trying to get by in what is a pretty tough city to set up a business in, taking advantage of the space available and a large sign that has nothing to do with him but would certainly draw attention.

This image, showing the space between two buildings and the endless structures behind them, is the perfect image of Nivalis. In Cloudpunkyou fly around and between buildings, from drop off point to pick up point. The portal at the bottom of the image in the distance is a connection between districts with a huge train passing through it.

One of the best parts of Cloudpunk is walking through the streets of Nivalis. You have to hitchhike to the top of skyscrapers to see the shabby apartments that people have saved their whole lives for. Despite the depressing situations the citizens find themselves in, I always look at Nivalis and find beauty in the endless clouds and the complete destruction of nature. Something about the brutality of it and the way people have made it their own with bright signs and wires trailing through the air between windows really strikes me.

The last image I want to show you is what could easily be the interior of the apartment or restaurant you end up in while playing Nivalis. It’s neglected now, but one of the goals of the game is to build a thriving business. I look at this and see the potential for all sorts of decorations that I can buy by making my business profitable. Even if it goes under, I can always sell the fish that I catch from the rivers that cover the bottom of the city’s skyscrapers.

Nivalis is scheduled for release in 2025, but we don’t have a date or timeframe outside of that year. These screenshots certainly make the environments look promising, but I’d like to see some new gameplay in the future to better understand where we fit into this world.
