Sterling and Chilwell from Maresca’s plans

According to Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on X, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has now allowed both Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell to train outside the first team.

The Italian journalist has provided updates on Sterling and Chilwell, who appear almost certain to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after being excluded from training with the rest of Maresca’s squad.

See below for details in a series of messages from Romano, who also quotes Maresca as saying he prefers a different playing style to Sterling on the wings, with the Blues manager being brutally honest about the former Manchester City man…

Chelsea transfer update: Sterling and Chilwell out?

Sterling was once one of Europe’s best strikers, having excelled at Liverpool and Man City, but it’s probably fair to say he’s never reached that level again in a Chelsea shirt.

It might make sense for the West London giants to let the 29-year-old go now, as he looks like a player past his prime. But it could also be difficult to offload such a player.

Meanwhile, there is speculation that Chilwell has received an offer from Manchester United, according to talkSPORT, so we could see the England international make a surprise move to one of CFC’s rivals.

Chilwell has generally been a reliable player for Chelsea, but injuries have held him back and now there is more competition for his place in the team.

Ben Chilwell looks set to leave Chelsea

United would certainly benefit from bringing in someone like Chilwell as they themselves have issues at left back, with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia having missed many games in the past year due to fitness issues.

Chelsea have had another busy summer, with Conor Gallagher also leaving the club to join Atlético Madrid, while Armando Broja is also set to leave, as he is close to a move to Ipswich Town.
