CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – The Cranston Western Little League 12U Softball All Stars advanced to the state tournament. Now, they head to Bristol, Conn. for the New England Regionals.

Cranston Western gave up just two runs in three games in the state tournament, and their pitching staff is ready to take on the next level of talent.

“The pitching is very strong on this team,” he said. “We like to say we have two number one players. We both come out, we do our job, we support each other in everything we do.”

“I’m looking forward to the competition,” he said. “Certainly a better level than what’s here, so I’m just excited to compete.”

Head coach Lalo Marcano does not think the bright lights will harm his group.

“They’ve been ready for a while. We’re lucky with the group we have,” he said. “I know they’re going to go out there and get the job done.”

Cranston Western represents the state of Rhode Island and their first game is against Milford, Conn. on Sunday at 8 p.m.
