This story has been updated to reflect the situation as of Thursday, September 19 at 4:43 p.m.

After a very slow start to the season, the Houston Astros have once again proven their superiority in the AL West. Well, almost. Despite having one of the best second halves in baseball, the Astros have yet to clinch a spot in the MLB playoffs.

The Seattle Mariners are doing their best to not only keep the Astros from winning the AL West for a fourth straight season, but possibly keeping them out of the playoffs altogether. That said, the Astros have the advantage, as they currently lead the division. This is their magic number to secure a playoff spot.
