The US cricket team’s dream streak continues.

After beating Canada and Pakistan and gaining points in an unsuccessful match against Ireland due to heavy rain in Fort Lauderdale, the US cricket team has advanced to the second phase of the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024: the Super 8s .

The Super 8 stage of the tournament will see eight teams split into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each advancing to the semi-finals later this month. The US, grouped with England, West Indies and South Africa, will clash with South Africa in the first match of the Super 8s stage on Wednesday.

Despite being ranked fifth in the ICC’s latest T20 rankings, South Africa is looking to win its maiden T20 World Cup without having reached the final stages.

The US cricket team’s progression to the group stage also automatically qualifies them for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The team will also receive a boost in prize money, with all teams reaching the Super 8 receiving a guaranteed minimum of $382,500, according to USA Cricket’s press release.

US cricket team vice-captain Aaron Jones said at a post-match press conference last Friday that the US’s qualification for the Super 8s was “a big deal for us”.

“Over the last few years we have talked about playing in the World Cup, playing more games against the former member states,” Jones said. “And this is what we’re working on now. Qualifying for the Super 8s is really good. It’s a big thing for us.”

“And not just for us, but for fans across America,” he added. “We really appreciate them.”

When is the USA Super 8 match?

The U.S. will play South Africa at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Wednesday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Tickets for the South Africa vs USA match are available on the official T20 World Cup website. Ticket prices start at $12 for Grass and Mound and go up to $475 for the Club VVIP Experience.

Tickets for the match can also be purchased on third-party websites such as Stubhub for various prices.

The competition can be streamed exclusively on WillowTV, which is also available through streamers such as Fubo and Sling.
