Springfield Youth Basketball Team Honored for Win in Puerto Rico

SPRINGFIELD — A youth basketball team that traveled to Bayamón, Puerto Rico this summer returned to the city as the 2024 Caribbean International Shootout champions.

The Springfield Trailblazers are a team made up of students ages 13 and under. Nine of the players competed in Puerto Rico this summer against teams from multiple countries in the Caribbean, said Leon Thorne, who coaches the team.
