‘Splash Bros 4 life my man’

“I’m going to miss you @klaythompson,” he wrote in a statement posted to his Story Tuesday morning. “While we won’t finish the journey together, what we did will never happen again. I couldn’t have imagined a better run with you and @money23green,” he tagged teammate Draymond Green’s Instagram handle.

“Changed the whole Bay Area. Changed the way the game is played. Killa Klay is front and center. Thanks for everything bro. Go play hoops and do what you do. Splash Bros 4 life, bro.”

Curry’s statement concluded a montage of photos he posted to his Instagram Story, which show him and Thompson at various points in their 13-year careers as Warriors teammates. Thompson will play for the Dallas Mavericks after leaving Golden State as an unrestricted free agent in a sign-and-trade that will net the Warriors two second-round draft picks.

As teammates, Curry and Thompson won four NBA championships and set several 3-point shooting records, including 678 3-pointers made by teammates in 2015-16. Their incomparable pairing, and the gravity it brought, formed the foundation of an offense that revolutionized the way basketball is played.
