South Korean shooter gets acting role after viral Olympic moment

South Korean shooter Kim Ye-ji, who became an unlikely star at the Paris Olympics, will reportedly play a hitman in her first acting gig

MANILA, Philippines – South Korean shooter Kim Ye-ji launched her first acting career after her bravado and charisma made her a star at the Paris Olympics.

Kim, who won silver in the women’s 10m air pistol event, will reportedly play a hitman in Crushinga spin-off of a worldwide film project Asiatogether with Indian actress Anushka Sen.

“I am so happy to collaborate with Kim Ye-ji, the Olympic silver medalist and the most popular Korean shooter in the world,” Sen wrote on Instagram.

Kim became an internet phenomenon overnight thanks to her casual style, which included wearing black-rimmed glasses and keeping her hand in her pocket, which propelled her to stardom.

Her participation in the Olympics earned Kim millions of new fans, including Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk.

“She should be cast in an action movie. No acting required!” Musk wrote on X, responding to a video of Kim competing in the ISSF Baku World Cup in Azerbaijan in May, where she won gold.

After the Olympics, Kim was given numerous opportunities as she also became a sponsor of fashion brands such as MLB Korea and Givenchy.
