Sources — Hawks deal Dejounte Murray to Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are adding Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray to their backcourt, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Friday.

The Pelicans are sending veteran forward Larry Nance Jr., second-year guard Dyson Daniels, a 2025 first-round pick via the Los Angeles Lakers and the least favorable 2027 first-round pick from the Milwaukee Bucks or the Pelicans to Atlanta for the 27- year-old Murray, who just completed his second season in Atlanta.

Murray averaged a career-high 22.5 points for the Hawks in 2023-24, while also making a career-best 201 three-pointers. He averaged 6.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds while sharing the backcourt with Trae Young.

Atlanta sent three first-round picks to San Antonio in 2022 so Murray could build its potential backcourt of the future, but it never worked out as the team had hoped.

The year before, as San Antonio’s senior point guard, Murray averaged 21.1 points, 9.2 assists, 8.3 rebounds and a league-leading 2.0 steals per game.

Since moving to Atlanta, Murray has seen his 3-point shot improve tremendously.

In five full seasons with San Antonio — Murray missed the 2018-19 season with a torn ACL — he made 218 3-pointers while shooting 33.0% from distance. He hit 334 in his two seasons with Atlanta and topped out at 36.3% this season.
