Sofia Vergara Responds to Ex-Husband Joe Manganiello’s Denial of Reasons for Divorce

Sofía Vergara responds to her ex-husband Joe Manganiello’s denial that their divorce was due to different opinions about having children.

Vergara, who has an adult son from her previous marriage, said in an interview earlier this year that the reason for their split was Manganiello’s desire to have children, although she did not share that view.

Manganiello recently told Men’s Journal that Vergara’s explanation is “simply not true.”

“Ultimately, you never know if he actually said that,” Vergara told Variety on Wednesday.

“I’ve read a lot of things that I’ve said and I’m like, ‘Huh?’ What am I supposed to do, call him? I don’t know if he even said that.”

Page Six reported in July 2023 that the couple had ended their seven-year marriage. The divorce was finalized in February.

Since then, the 52-year-old actress has found her joy, thanks in part to her favorite mantra: “Don’t think too much.”

“When you’re too much in your mind, people get depressed and paralyzed,” she told Variety. “I always stay active. What the f–k can we do? Nothing. We have to keep living.”

Vergara told El País in January that her marriage had ended because her younger husband wanted children, while she herself was not interested in life as an older mother.

“I don’t think it’s fair to the baby,” she explained at the time.

The ‘Modern Family’ actress stressed that she respects people who choose to have children later in life, but that path is “no longer for her.”
