Skip Bayless Leaves ‘Undisputed’ in FS1 Bombshell

It’s the end of an era at FS1.

Skip Bayless is leaving his role as co-host of “Undisputed” at the network after eight years, The Post has learned.

His final performance will be later this summer.

Bayless referred The Post to Fox Sports PR, which declined to comment.

It’s the second straight summer that one of the program’s mainstays has disappeared, as Shannon Sharpe left after last year’s NBA Finals.

The new edition, which featured a rotating group of panelists with Bayless including Keyshawn Johnson (who is on most days), Michael Irvin, Richard Sherman, Rachel Nichols and Paul Pierce, failed to captivate the audience as well as the seven years prior, when Bayless and Sharpe debated one-on-one.

It would be an uphill climb, as Sharpe was likely as compelling a debate candidate for Bayless as Stephen A. Smith was on “First Take” during his time on ESPN.

The show went on hiatus for a few months last summer after Sharpe’s departure and never regained popularity.

When it came back, the format was a bit odd, because instead of a moderator (a role previously filled by Joy Taylor, Jenny Taft and Jen Hale), Bayless introduced the topic and was sometimes the third or fourth person to give his opinion.

“Undisputed”‘s ratings also took a bit of a hit, as Craig Carton’s introductory show has yet to reach the stats that “First Things First” had in the early morning before it was moved to mid-afternoon, following “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd.

While Cowherd and Bayless were warned by colleagues that they would get “lost” by leaving ESPN for FS1 in 2015 and 2016 respectively, they both successfully made the transition as digital platforms like YouTube, X and Instagram made their audiences portable beyond linear TV.

“Undisputed” is expected to continue without Bayless.

Elsewhere on the network, “First Things First” and “Speak” are expected to each be expanded by a half-hour to fill the time vacated by “Race Hub,” the NASCAR show that ended its 13-year run in June.

Former Post columnist Andrew Marchand reported in 2021 that Bayless had signed a four-year, $32 million contract with FS1.

Cowherd, who was the first talent player for this version of FS1, will also be a free agent after the football season.
