Skatefest Omaha, a nonprofit organization that supports Omaha’s skating community, is hosting a skateboarding festival this Sunday.

The free event features skate contests, live music, live art and food trucks. The event starts at 11:30am and lasts until 6pm.

Blake Harris, Executive Director, says events like this mean a lot to the skateboarding community

“Kids can have things to look forward to, feel connected to a community and go to a place where they feel included and not excluded from society,” Harris said.

This is one of three free events that this organization hosts each year for the skateboarding community.

The goal of these events is to connect and engage the Omaha community in skateboarding.
