Sinner’s coach calls Djokovic the best player the tennis world has ever seen

Novak Djokovic rewrote tennis history at Olympic Games in Paris. And Darren Cahillcoach of Jannik Sinnercongratulated the Serbian champion, after Sunday’s success at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. A victory that had long been sought by the current world number 2, who added to his collection of successes the only victory he was still missing: the Olympic gold for his Serbia that had always eluded him in previous Olympic editions.

Cahill, who was not directly involved in the Paris Olympics because Jannik Sinner missed the Games with tonsillitis, wrote a beautiful message that leaves no room for doubt about his thoughts on the Serb, direct from Canada, where the world number 1 is busy this week with the ATP Masters 1000 in Montreal

The Australian coach wrote about Novak Djokovic that the Serbian is the best tennis player tennis has ever known. Among the many tributes Novak Djokovic has received after his gold medal at the Olympic Games, the one from Darren Cahill, Jannik Sinner’s current coach, is the most sincere.

The Australian coach was very impressed with the Serb’s performance in the final against Carlos Alcaraz and wanted to pay him a heartfelt tribute. He wrote:

“An extraordinary achievement. An extraordinary career as an athlete and tennis player. The best tennis has ever seen. Bravo, Novak. And congratulations to your entire team.”

The Olympic victory of the Serbian champion is one of those moments that mark the history of tennis. I already wrote about it a few days ago in an editorial of mine, but I think it is right to repeat it: what Djokovic did at the Olympic Games in Paris goes beyond the epic, for a champion who is carried by the hand of history, again, in triumph.
