Shirt clash delays Truro City and Dorking Wanderers National League South match

Dorking, who were relegated from the National League last season, took the lead when Jimmy Muitt scored in the 15th minute to silence the crowd of 2,676.

But City striker Tyler Harvey equalised after 31 minutes, with Charlie Carter scoring the decisive goal three minutes after the break.

“I have mixed feelings about it,” said Askey, the former York City and Macclesfield Town manager who took over at Truro last summer after Paul Wotton left to manage Torquay United.

“It was great to see so many people here and the atmosphere was good. Once we got to Dorking we started to get them into trouble.

“I’m disappointed with the first goal, which I saw as a direct foul, but it happens sometimes and we did well to get back into the game.

“We were in a good position and you think ‘we’re going to upset them’, but then we concede a goal from a corner – people lose their men and don’t react to the second ball.

“But I can’t ask more of the players. I thought they worked very hard and they are a team that immediately gets a big budget again. So I thought our players did a good job.”
