Shiny Gimmighoul odds still poor in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid event

The long-awaited Gimmighoul Tera Raids have returned to Pokémon Scarlet And Violetbut the biggest highlight of the event is the bad odds.

Starting on August 8, Chest Form Gimmighoul Tera Raids will appear, ranging from one to five stars. Scarlet And Violet to celebrate the Pokémon World Championships (Aug. 16-18). The five-star raids have a very small chance to encounter Shiny Gimmighoul—one in 4,103.05as noted by content creator Austin John Plays.

Players including Serebii’s Joe Merrick were hoping for higher odds this time around, but unfortunately we’re left with the same low Shiny percentage as last year.

The main issue here is that Shiny Gimmighoul and Shiny Gholdengo are exclusive to these Tera Raid events, which have only happened twice since the Gen IX games released. This makes Gimmighoul one of the rarest Shinies, which is great, but the process is long and painful unless you’re blessed with incredibly good luck.

Let’s say you want to hunt for a Shiny Gimmighoul during this event. The first step is to find a five-star Gimmighoul raid hidden among the lower-ranked raids. There’s no way to check how many stars a raid has without interacting with the Tera Crystal, so you’re going to spend a fair amount of time running around looking for five-star raids.

Once you find a Gimmighoul raid, you’ll need to fight it and see if the little ‘mon is Shiny or not. Unfortunately, Gimmighoul’s Shiny variant isn’t super obvious and it’s easy to mistake a Shiny for a normal one. If you’re unsure if it’s Shiny, your best bet is to fight and capture every five-star Gimmighoul you come across, just in case. And that takes a lot of time between the cutscenes, lag, and chaos that come with Tera Raids.

Therefore, Shiny Hunting Gimmighoul requires a lot of dedication or luck, especially if you tackle it alone. An alternative option would be to join another player’s raid if they happen to stumble upon a Shiny Gimmighoul raid before you do.

Even these group attacks will be rare and also highly sought after, so there’s no guarantee you’ll get out of this one. Scarlet And Violet event with that little Shiny.
