Shearer predicts more misery for Chelsea

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has given his views and understanding on the situation surrounding Raheem Sterling at Chelsea as he now faces a potential move away from Stamford Bridge.

Sterling was left out of Enzo Maresca’s squad for yesterday’s match against Manchester City, and CaughtOffside understands that the England international may have to make way for Joao Felix, who will replace him in attack.

Shearer says he was told Sterling was informed of the situation on Friday, but criticised the 29-year-old for issuing a statement through his training camp yesterday after the team announcement for the Man City match emerged.

The former Newcastle United and England striker also hit out at the situation at Chelsea, saying he expects more incidents like this to occur this season due to the large squad at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling transfer situation discussed by Shearer

“I’ve heard he’s been training all the way through pre-season and I was told on Friday that he’s probably best off looking for a club elsewhere because they’ve brought in other people for that position,” Shearer said on The Rest Is Football podcast.

“That would be quite frustrating if you heard that on Friday. Remember my words, this is not the first case of unrest among players at Chelsea.

“Enzo Maresca will have to deal with these kinds of problems all season.”

The situation at CFC is currently quite chaotic. This summer there was again a large turnover of players and staff. Moreover, the team still does not seem to have improved much, as City won easily yesterday.

There will undoubtedly be other players we will have to deal with as well, as there are simply too many for a starting line-up and the bench.
