Sergio Reguilon hopes to leave Tottenham next week

Sergio Reguilon hopes to leave Tottenham next week and will keep an eye on the Turkish transfer market, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Spurs were able to part ways with a number of fringe players this summer, with Oliver Skipp, Emerson Royal and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg all leaving the club.

Unfortunately for Reguilon, who has not played for the club since April 2022, a departure has still not materialised.

The 27-year-old player, who has one year left on his contract, joined from Real Madrid in 2020 and has made 67 appearances for the club so far.

The Spain international spent last season on loan at Manchester United and Brentford, while he also played on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Turkey remains the only realistic option for the Spaniard, as their transfer window is still open until September 13. Jacobs has reported that Reguilon will look at the Turkish market and hopes a deal can be struck.

Last season Reguilon was loaned to Man United and Brentford.

“I think he will be very selective with his next move, but Reguilon was willing to go to Lille on loan,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“It’s just a fact that Tottenham were very strict with their terms and insisted that the loan would include a commitment or, in the worst case, a suitable purchase option.

“That was too high for Lille to agree to, and that’s why he didn’t go anywhere. So like many, many players who are now looking for last-minute summer transfers, Reguilon will be looking at the Turkish market and hoping something comes of it.

“But if that doesn’t happen, he’ll be stuck at Spurs with the belief that, like Djed Spence, there’s an unlikely way to get back into the first team.”

If a move to Turkey does not go through, Reguilon can expect to be out of football until at least January, so it seems that it is in the best interests of all parties to arrange a move.
