Sergio Garcia’s heartfelt message, ignoring his outburst during open qualifying, gets support from fans: ‘Has nothing to prove’

Devastated is how you will find the golf community at the moment. The politics and rules of golf have done it again. Sergio Garcia’s identity and fate now remain determined as a LIV golfer; his skills and reputation are no longer recognized by the majors As you’ve heard, the 2017 Master’s Champion will not be competing in this season’s Open Championship. But instead of expressing his frustration, this is how the acclaimed golfer responded.

Garcia shared his heartfelt message on both Instagram and his X handle. He wrote: “I’ve been fortunate enough to play in many majors – 96 to be exact – out of the last 100. This week was another test, and while I didn’t quite qualify as I had hoped, it was still an amazing experience as always. The most incredible takeaway from this year’s qualifying and last year’s has to be the fans. I’m grateful to everyone who came out and showed support, followed my group and waited for me to finish the last of the 36 holes. I see you, and I thank you.”

Has Sergio Garcia silenced his critics with this sincere message? Respond!

The golfer missed his cut in the final qualifying rounds held this Tuesday at West Lancashire Golf Club for the Open Championship. He scored 71-70 for 36 holes and missed his spot by two strokes. However, Garcia was one of the golfing stars who attracted crowds near his tees, which naturally caused a slowdown in his play. This was soon followed by Garcia being yelled at and warned for his slow play. Unable to maintain his composure, the golfing legend was seen throwing a tantrum at two R&A officials. He shouted at them and said: “You’re right, we’re always wrong.”

Golf.com also noted: “Garcia was angry because it took the marshals “3-4 minutes” to move people out of the way for Garcia for each shot, and he was therefore unable to maintain a normal pace.” They further noted: “Garcia even had to navigate through spectators in the middle of the fairway to get to the 18th green during his first round.”

The LIV Golfer also wrote a heartfelt message while teeing off for qualifying, and felt that things were indeed going well. “difficult.” Are last post thanking fans for their support during the qualifiers shows his gentle nature and sincere gratitude towards the fans. But how do you think the fans reacted to him?

The golf community stands behind Sergio Garcia

One of the fans said: “It’s great to see such a great player trying to qualify through these channels. I I do not agree with it with the fact that LIV players don’t get ranking points, which would allow them to bypass these events, but it’s still great to see so much enthusiasm for it.” The fan first applauded Garcia for being a true sportsman who played the qualifications even after being a golfer of his rank. After that, the fan also pointed out how the entire golf system ignores the points of LIV golfers like strip them of their ranks in the OWGR, which is unfair. After 18 long months of back and forth discussions between Greg Norman and the OWGR officials, Norman announced this March that the latter does not want to work with them. Norman even noted, “There is no longer a resolution that protects the accuracy, credibility and integrity of the OWGR rankings.” This meant that many top golfers at LIV had to say goodbye to their usual rights to exemptions.

Another fan tried to cheer Garcia up. They said: “Still plenty of turns left, Sergio! Phil won the PGA at 51, remember? Tom Watson almost won the Open at 60! Sam Snead almost won the PGA at 61 and 62!!!” Garcia is only 44 years old and many golfers like Phil Mickelson shocked the world when he won the 2021 PGA Championship over Brooks Koepka and Louis Oosthuizen by two strokes. Tom Watson, the eight-time major winner, was 60 when he tied for first place but lost to Stewart Cink in a four-hole playoff. Sam Snead, on the other hand, was T4 and T3 in 1972 and 1974, respectively, on the ages of 60 and 62. At 61, he was still in the top 10 at the PGA Championship, where he finished T9. So needless to say, Garcia would still have plenty of options even if LIV golfers aren’t recognized by the system. As long as he can play to earn a spot, Sergio Garcia will get his chance.

“I find it remarkable and shows great sportsmanship for an established player like you to try to qualify for a major while there is still no solution for players in the @livgolf_league. Kudos and better luck next time. I hope the organizations get their sh*t together soon,” said another fan. While acknowledging Garcia’s personality and true passion for golf, which goes beyond his ego of one of the established and recognized players, the fan greatly disqualifies the current unfair system. They suggested that all these organizations that are opposing LIV Golf should work out their issues and find a solution that currently missing.

Yet another Internet user stated: “A champion at that level doesn’t have to prove anything.” The Spaniard has won 11 times on the PGA Tour and 16 times on the European Tour. Garcia is still remembered for his duel with Tiger Woods back in the 1999 PGA Championship, where he was defeated by a stroke. Even in this season’s US Open, Garcia finished against all odds in a tie for 12th, proving that his skills have not died yet. Although he never won the Open Championship before, Garcia tied for first place and lost in a play-off in 2007, and he finished T2 again in 2014. With such a remarkable career, fans believe that the qualifying matches are not necessary to prove his skills for a spot at the Open Championship.

Another fan commented on how nice and friendly Garcia is. They said: “It was absolute brilliant with the fans all day. I have to gave the children about 10 balls over the two rounds. Waited round and photos taken. Top man.” Despite being warned about his slow play as the fans jostled him, Garcia did not get angry with them. Instead, it was said that he was quite hospitable to them. Furthermore, when he lost his temper, he put himself and the fans on the same side and said in frustration that they were at fault and not the officials.
