Senator Hyde-Smith says that after Sec. of agricultural rumors

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) says she will remain in the U.S. Senate after rumors of a possible role in the Trump administration.

Hyde-Smith’s name was floated as a possible choice for Secretary of Agriculture.

“It is an honor to be mentioned as a potential nominee for Secretary of Agriculture, but my plan is to remain in the Senate and continue to make an impact for the people of Mississippi,” Senator Hyde-Smith said in a statement Friday.

However, she also said: “President Trump will always have my support…”

Governor Tate Reeves had spoken this week about her possible nomination, saying she was “a great representative of the people of Mississippi,” and that “she would do a fantastic job in whatever role the president chooses to give her.” ”
