Security guard dies in accident in Region Seven

Police are investigating a fatal incident that occurred on Sunday at around 5.25pm ​​on the Sand Hill Trail in Cuyuni-Mazaruni, Region Seven, involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

The ATV was driven at the time by Marlon Davison (now deceased), a 37-year-old security guard employed by Hopkinson Mining Security Firm and resident of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.

In a statement, police said an investigation revealed the driver was traveling east along the north side of the Sand Hill Trail at a rapid pace when he lost control of the ATV.

As a result, the vehicle turned turtle and the driver got stuck, sustaining injuries to his body.

Davison was picked up in an unconscious state by members of the public and taken to Bartica Regional Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor who pronounced him dead.
