Second man charged with attempted murder and assault after incident in Orkney

A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a man in Orkney and the assault of a woman.

Kyle Christie appeared at Kirkwall Sheriff Court on Monday where he was charged with serious assault, battery, permanent disability, endangering life and attempted murder.

He faced a separate charge of assault causing injury and endangering life.

The 29-year-old from Orkney pleaded no contest and was remanded in custody. He will appear in court again in the next eight days.

Oscar Mayo appeared in court on Friday charged with assault causing serious injury, permanent disability, endangering life and attempted murder.

The 22-year-old, from Kirkwall, was also charged with assault and endangering life, as well as threatening or insulting behaviour.

Police were called to a property on Burnmouth Road in Kirkwall at around 9.40pm on October 15 following the incident.

A 38-year-old man was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where his condition was described as critical.

A 39-year-old woman was taken to Balfour Hospital for treatment.
