Sean Strickland Confirms ‘Ton of Money’ Rejection While Khamzat Chimaev Apologizes for Smash Meme Coin Scam

UFC star Khamzat Chimaev has been embroiled in a flurry of allegations surrounding his promotion of the ‘Smash’ cryptocurrency token! ‘Borz’ recently pulled out of his UFC Saudi Arabia bout against Robert Whittaker, prompting UFC CEO Dana White to say in an interview on ‘The Jim Rome Show’: “It’s been hard to get him in the Octagon lately. Every time he gets close to fighting, he gets really sick.”

But his health issues and potential return to competition have now been overshadowed by recent allegations that Chimaev is engaging in a “crypto rug pull” on social media. The Solana-based “memecoin” is named after Chimaev’s catchphrase, but alarm bells began ringing when its value dropped dramatically just a day after the UFC star’s push. As a result, former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has come out to criticize “Borz” and his team’s response to the situation.

Khamzat Chimaev took to social media to encourage his followers to purchase the ‘Smash’ token and his endorsement significantly increased the value of the token to 0.01 SOL, approximately 1.35 US dollars. However, less than a day after Chimaev’s promotion, it was reported that the token lost over 91% of its value, dropping to around $0.53 per token or 0.004 SOL.

Do you think Sean Strickland made the right decision by turning down a lot of money?

This sudden sell-off raised suspicions, with researchers accusing Chimaev of orchestrating a pump-and-dump scheme. According to crypto researcher ZachXBT, “Yesterday Khamzat Chimaev and his team launched a cryptocoin called Smash and made multiple videos promoting it to his followers, and in less than 24 hours he steals the coin and steals up to $1,000,000 from his fans who invested in his coin.

In a recent video Chimaev shared on X, a member of the team behind the coin released a statement denouncing the allegations surrounding the entire affair: “We just want to make it clear that we have never had direct contact with Khamzat and that Khamzat is in no way directly involved with the token.”

The representative also admitted that the team held 80% of the token’s supply, but insisted they did not sell it, attributing the crash to early buyers cashing out their tokens.“You can follow all the wallets; there was no fraud,“, said the spokesman, who insisted that neither Chimaev nor his team caused the downfall.

Amid the controversy, Sean Strickland gave his opinion on the situation in a post on X, stating the following: “I got paid a lot of money to do the exact same thing…… Crazy man, you are rich and still you try to scam your fans……..” and in a later message he further elaborated on his position by stating: “I was just approached to do the same thing… tegrity you either have it or you don’t. You guys shouldn’t let this disappear into a news cycle. Absolutely wrong”

Chimaev’s manager claims Borz’s team was ‘misled’ in promoting crypto tokens

Following significant backlash surrounding ‘Borz’ promotion of the ‘Smash’ token, the posts in question have now been removed from Khamzat Chimaev’s social media accounts. The UFC star’s manager, Majdi Shammas recently addressed the allegations surrounding the affair in a post on X, stating: “I was approached by a group claiming to be fans of my client Khamzat Chimaev. They wanted to record a short video to promote their launch. So I agreed, nothing more, nothing less. Maybe I was misled.”
