Sean McVay: I’m happy to have Cooper Kupp back with us and I expect that will continue

With the trade deadline approaching, Rams receiver Cooper Kupp has been the subject of rumors during the week.

Although Kupp said he was aware of them, he wanted to leave them be in the background.

Head coach Sean McVay was asked about those rumors after Thursday night’s 30-20 win over the Vikings and pushed back on the idea that Kupp could go elsewhere.

“Here’s what I’ll tell you: Teams have been in touch,” McVay said. “Some of the things I saw there are just not true. We have discussed this with these people. Teams have been calling about him and we let him know what the dialogue was there. And then there are a lot of things where there isn’t much accountability for the reports. And that’s a shame.”

Now, at 3-4, the Rams are still in the division race. The Seahawks currently lead the NFC West with a 4-3 record and Los Angeles plays at Seattle in Week 9.

But either way, McVay said he’s not thinking about potential trades.

“I’m thinking about coaching our team,” McVay said, adding that much of what has happened has only been speculation. “We are an inside-out organization. I am very happy that Cooper Kupp is back with us and I expect it will remain that way.”

In his first game since suffering an ankle injury in Week 2, Kupp caught five passes for 51 yards with a touchdown in Los Angeles’ win over Minnesota.
